Caribbean Eats - IT's on the Menu!
The Caribbean islands are known for (in our humble opinion) food with the most flavors and spices (which will send your taste buds in a frenzy)... Ok Ok, we may be a bit biased…but still, the best Jerk Chicken is found in Jamaica. You can pick up Roti in any part of Trinidad and Tobago and know that it will go on your list of best foods ever! You may even want to get the recipe to re-create it once your vacation is over.
Whether it's on-the-go street food or gourmet dining in the Caribbean islands, you won't have to wonder if it’s worth it or think ‘Maybe I should have gone with the burger’... Trust us- the service may be slow, BUT IT IS SOOOO WORTH IT!!!... Unless you’re getting a Jerk burger, don't even think about it!. It will be GREAT
Try some of these Authentic Caribbean foods and don't forget to tell us what you think in the comments below!!!
Jerk Chicken - Jamaica
Of course we can't write a food post about Jamaica and not talk about the very popular method of cooking street food on the Island called ‘Jerk’. Jerk is so popular that the island has a festival dedicated to it called the 'Portland Jerk Festival'...where everything is 'jerked' to perfection and you leave feeling like you should have taken a bigger bag. YUMMMMMM!!!!! Jerk Chicken is the go-to snack after late night partying or when you have the Friday night blues (most Jamaicans do not cook on a Friday night) so prepare for long lines by the ‘Jerk Man Stand’

Oxtail - Jamaica
Apart from ‘Jerk’, Jamaicans also do alot of 'Stews’ and one of our absolute favorite stew is Oxtail (tail of cattle), YEESSSSS!!! Sorry, we got excited just thinking about it... maybe we should have it for dinner tonight. It is on the menu, take a look the next time you go out and can't figure out what to eat. Any of the stews will be a good choice but you’re in Jamaica so you can do better than good… Get the BEST- we suggest Oxtail.

Let’s talk about Bake and Shark, a very popular street food made of fried shark sandwiched between fried dough...so delish!!! Grab it for the beach, take it to carnival or sit under the stars and ENJOY!!!! Locals don't go a week without biting into this delicious sandwich so come on, Eat like a Local, That's why you travel!!!!!

Roti - Trinidad & Tobago (One of our MUSTS!!! in Trinidad - Click here for full list)
Tell anyone that you’re going to Trinidad or that you visited the island and the next suggestion or question after "Did you go to or enjoy Carnival?" Is almost always "Try the Roti or did you have the Roti?" (Roti is a flour pancake, similar to tortilla)...it is served with various meats including chicken, goat and shrimp in a savory curry sauce...We care so much about you that we want your response to be "Of course I did…are you kidding me?- I had to have it!!!" Then we want you to say "I now know why getting a Roti in Trinidad is a Must!!!."
