St. Vincent & The Grenadines Musts

Tobago Cays off the island of St. Vincent are very likely what you picture when imagining crystal clear Caribbean waters dotted with uninhabited cays and spectacular reefs. These cays are an absolutely perfect yachting or sailing destination and offer an unparalleled marine environment for scuba, snorkeling or simply swimming around.

A definite must do while on the island of Bequia is a visit to the historic seaside village, Port Elizabeth. The quaint, port town is home to a wonderful boat museum, as well as some great restaurants and excellent shopping.

The Vermont Nature Trails, which run through the St. Vincent Botanical Gardens, are a definite must do for all nature enthusiasts and other visitors alike to the island of St. Vincent. Along these trails, you will find a wide variety of exotic birds, including the Black Hawk, Cocoa Thrush, Crested Hummingbird and Green Heron. The lush, tropical rainforest is simply spectacular in its own right.

Palm Island, in the Grenadines, is a tiny island covered in palm trees that features some of the Caribbean’s most beautiful beaches. The island is not the most accessible, but a visit to the island, even for just a day trip is without question, worth the effort. Most visitors arrive via Union Island, from which there is a 1-mile boat ride to Palm Island.

The Soufriere Volcano is the highest peak in St. Vincent, measuring 4,049ft high. The trail to the top is quite a trek but well worth the effort as it is an incredibly exhilarating experience. You can even hike down into the active volcano’s crater!

For anyone interested in doing some diving in the Grenadines, a visit to Dive Bequia on the island of Bequia, is a definite must do. Dive Bequia is a highly professional dive center offering diving excursions three times daily in the crystal clear Caribbean waters surrounding Bequia. The dive center even offers instruction to juniors making it a great destination for the whole family!

While on the island of St. Vincent, you definitely don’t want to miss the Botanical Gardens spanning over 20 acres in the northern outskirts of Kingstown. These gardens were established in 1765 by the British General, Robert Melville.

Another fantastic attraction on the island of Bequia is the spectacular Lower Bay Beach. Lay out and catch some sun on the beautiful, white sand beach or relax in the shade of the many palm trees that line the beach. The calm waters make Lower Bay a fantastic swimming location.

Nothing beats a diving excursion into the blue depths of the underworld. The ever-helpful crew of Indigo Dive will take you on a journey of a lifetime while submerged in the deep Caribbean Sea. Wreck diving, sea-turtle spotting, caves and caverns, reefs, tours for divers and non-divers alike– Indigo Dive offers all sorts of exciting packages custom-made just for you.
